How To Train Your Dragon 3

The It List: ‘How to Train Your Dragon 3,’ Gary Clark Jr., ‘Survivor’ and the best in pop culture the week of Feb. 18, 2019

The It List is Yahoo’s weekly look at the best in pop culture, including movies, music, TV, streaming, games, books, podcasts and more. Here are our picks for Feb. 18 to 24, including the best deals we could find for each

How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) were both major box-office hits that were nominated for Academy Awards. So why does it feel like this series is so underappreciated next to the Toy Stories and Despicable Me’s of the world? Critics are once again loving this trilogy capper that signals a bittersweet parting for its young Viking hero Hiccup and his fire-breathing friend Toothless, so maybe that finally changes. In other words, The Hidden World could be the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King of the animated franchise.

You may have crossed every Oscar-nominated feature off of your “must-see” list … but have you seen every Oscar-nominated short film? Shorts TV has made it easy for you, by assembling all 15 nominees into three programs — Animated, Live Action and Documentary — that you can watch from the comfort of your own living room. This year’s lineup of nonfiction shorts is particularly strong, with the standouts including A Night at the Garden — a short, but shocking look back at a 1939 Nazi rally that happened on our very own shores at New York’s Madison Square Garden — and End Game, an emotional exploration of how families make end-of-life decisions for loved ones. Pixar most likely has a lock on the Animated Short Oscar with Bao, but don’t count out Trevor Jimenez’s strikingly drawn Weekends. And if you ask us, the live-action short to beat is the Spanish nominee, Madre, a kidnapping thriller that plays out over a single cellphone call.

The 2019 Oscar Nominated Shorts are available to rent on Amazon, iTunes and Vimeo On Demand. The three programs are also playing in limited theatrical release; check Fandango for showtime and ticket information.

The critically acclaimed neo-soul star drops her hotly anticipated new mixtape, featuring Musiq Soulchild, Ty Dolla $ign, 6LACK and Dom Kennedy. This isn’t Kehlani’s only special delivery planned for 2019: the 23-year-old is currently pregnant with her first child too.

CBS’s long-running reality series just enjoyed one of its best seasons in years, thanks to an addictive “David vs. Goliath” hook. Now, a new group of castaways, plus four returning favorites, will live life … on the edge. The compelling new gameplay wrinkle for this edition is the titular “Edge of Extinction” — an isolated beach where contestants whose fires are snuffed out during Tribal Council can opt to survive instead of leaving the game. Provided they aren’t defeated by the scant resources and challenging elements, they can try to chart a path back into the main camp and maybe even the million-dollar prize.
Survivor: Edge of Extinction premieres Feb. 20 on CBS and CBS All Access.

It seems crazy, but this week marks 25 years since the movie about Gen Xers struggling to find their place in the world after college graduation debuted in theaters on Feb. 18, 1994. So, weirdly, the film has now been around longer than Lelaina, Troy and the Reality Bites gang had been alive when we first met them. Their 20-something musings, the countless pop culture references (to MTV’s The Real World and Gap, for starters) and that unforgettable dance scene at the gas station, set to “My Sharona,” are still there waiting, just the same, although you’ll surely see everything much differently in 2019.

Call it: The Social Network 2: Virtual Reality Edition. Blake J. Harris’s intensively researched, but breezily written book details the humble origins of the next-gen VR headset, the Oculus Rift, and how it was acquired by Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook machine. Like the author’s previous book, Console Wars — a compelling history of the era-defining battle between the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis (it’s being developed into a TV series by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg) — The History of the Future is paced like a high-concept corporate thriller, filled with surprise twists, exciting breakthroughs and lots of boardroom intrigue.

Sometimes one dog can change everything.

A Star Is Born

Lady Gaga Just Got a New Tattoo Inspired by A Star Is Born

Lady Gaga got two new tattoos, which she revealed on Instagram on Valentine’s Day.
One is the outline of a rose covering her spine with the words, “la vie en rose,” referencing the iconic song by Edith Piaf. Gaga sings the song in A Star Is Born and performed it during her 2015 Cheek to Cheek tour with Tony Bennett.
The second tattoo is a drawing of the notes G A G A on a musical staff, in honor of her name.

Lady Gaga is flaunting two new tattoos on Instagram. The first is an outline of a rose running the length of her spine with the words, “la vie en rose,” referencing the Edith Piaf song of the same name, which she sings as her character Ally in A Star Is Born. The second is a set of four musical notes that spell out her name, “GAGA.” The ink was done by L.A.-based tattoo artist Daniel Stone, also known as Winter Stone (@winterstone).

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Gaga captioned the photo of her rose tat. “A tattoo toast to ‘la vie en rose’ by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose.”

Stone also proudly flaunted his masterpiece on his own Instagram. “I can not express enough the honor it was tattooing you @ladygaga you are a breath of fresh air and truly a magical and inspirational woman!” he wrote, reposting the singer’s picture.

Fans of A Star Is Born may recall that Gaga’s Ally sings the French tune early in the film (spoiler alert!) at the drag bar when rockstar Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) watches her perform for the first time. However, Mother Monster’s link to the song goes beyond the movie. In 2015, she performed the track during her Cheek to Cheek tour with legendary crooner, Tony Bennet.

Cooper, who also directed A Star Is Born, had a deep connection to Gaga’s rendition of the song as well. After he saw the superstar perform “La Vie En Rose” at a fundraiser, he knew he needed her for the film, he revealed to Associated Press.

“She demolished the room,” he told the outlet in October. “I knew that was plutonium.” Gaga’s film version of “La Vie En Rose” is now included in the official ASIB soundtrack.

Let’s not forget about Gaga’s second tattoo. The clever piece of body art shows the notes G A G A on a musical staff on the singer’s forearm. According to her caption, her manager Bobby Campbell got a matching tat.

“G A G A…and when you get a tattoo and you’re me you always have to get two 😂,” the star said of the ink in her caption. Stone was the artist behind this piece, too.

These two tats are the latest of Gaga’s expansive collection of ink, including a “Born This Way” unicorn on her leg, a Tony Bennett trumpet on her arm, a portrait of David Bowie on her side, a mouse above her elbow, and many more, according to Billboard.

Aquaman‘ Is Crossing Yet Another Outrageous Box Office Benchmark

Warner Bros. has hired David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write a sequel to Aquaman, according to TheWrap. James Wan is returning as a producer (along with Peter Safran) and presumably returning as director. I’m amused at some articles that are reporting this as if Warner Bros. was dragging its feet on a sequel to a movie that opened barely two months ago in China and two months ago over the rest of the world.

The news of a sequel beginning the development process isn’t exactly a shock. Aquaman is a few days away from, sans inflation or exchange rates, becoming the fourth-biggest non-Disney/non-Universal release of all time. With $1.121 billion worldwide, it is just behind Paramount/Viacom’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($1.1214b in 2011). Once it passes Transformers 3, it’ll be behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II ($1.43b in 2011), Fox and Paramount’s Titanic ($2.1b, counting the 2012 reissue) and Avatar ($2.78b in 2009/2010). It’s already WB’s second-biggest grosser ever behind Harry Potter 7.2.

With Fantastic Beasts at a critical impasse (after Crimes of Grindelwald stumbled in North America and earned terrible reviews) and The LEGO Movie 2 opening 50% lower than The LEGO Movie, you can make the case that DC Films is more valuable to WB than it was just three months ago. It is still one of many existing franchises (the Conjuring Universe, the monsterverse, Wizarding World, Crazy Rich Asians) and potential franchises (Detective Pikachu, The Meg, Ocean’s 8). However, it is indisputably the king of the hill at the moment

DC Films’ slate is pretty full for the moment (Shazam and Joker in 2019, Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 in 2020 and DC Super Pets, The Batman and The Suicide Squad in 2021), there is no real need to rush Aquaman 2. So now Aquaman 2 joins the 4,081 other DC Films flicks in some stage of development and the just-announced spinoff. The Trench, set in Aquaman’s monster-filled “underworld,” is straight out of the Conjuring playbook. It takes a character that cameoed in a previous movie (a scary nun in Conjuring 2, a creepy doll in Conjuring) and gives them a whole film.

Conan the Barbarian teams up with Wolverine, Venom, and the Punisher in Savage Avengers

Marvel Comics will kick off Savage Avengers in May, a series where some of the greatest heroes of the Marvel Universe will team up with the greatest conqueror to come out of the barbarian lands of Cimmeria: Conan.

Marvel Comics has a long history with the pulp fantasy hero, dating back to the very first Conan comic series, 1970’s Conan the Barbarian. Marvel recently reacquired the license to Conan from Dark Horse Comics, and the first two books to come from that bit of rights finagling — Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan — kicked off in early 2019.

Gerry Duggan, the writer behind Savage Sword, will also be taking the reins on Savage Avengers, where Conan will find himself teaming with Venom, the Punisher, Wolverine, Elektra, and Brother Voodoo. The series might have the “Avengers” name in the title, but that may not hold a lot of weight within the story.

“This is an unsanctioned team of heroes,” Duggan told Entertainment Weekly.

According to the writer, he and series artist Mike Deodato Jr. “envisioned a threat, a magical green zone where the evil wizards of Conan’s world are trading spells with the Hand in Japan. Conan is on a very Conan-like mission; he’s heard a tale of an amulet, so he’s chasing it, and the evil magic sorcerers are doing something that would be a Marvel Avengers problem. It feels like we have found some very fertile ground that is a Venn diagram between those two worlds.”

It won’t be the first time that the Barbarian has interacted with the Marvel Universe — or vice versa — but Conan’s past Marvel stories were largely What If? events. This seems to be something a little more. (He also recently adventured with Wonder Woman, back when Dark Horse Comics still had the rights.)

Aashiqui 3

Aashiqui 3 is releasing on 14th February : Know about the legacy of Aashiqui

Bollywood never stopped spreading love in our lives. Right from the black and white entertainment period to this 3D era, love was never separated from the themes of Bollywood movies. Bollywood gave us so many romantic movies like “Rehna Hai Here Dil Me”, ” Jab We Met”, “Mohabbatein”, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” etc. This list just goes on.

This year is no different and Bollywood is giving us three movies full of love, comedy, suspense, and passion. “Gully Boy”, ” Facebook Wala Pyaar” and “Aashiqui 3” are those three movies.

Out of these three movies what catches our senses is Aashiqui 3 which is the third installment of this Aashiqui series. The reason behind separating this movie from the other two is the romance legacy of this series. Since 1990, Aashiqui is touching everyone’s heart.

The first movie of this series featured Rahul Roy, Deepak Tijori and Anu Aggarwal. Not so stable but perfect ending love story brought tears to many eyes. All the tracks from this movie are still famous and those are still able to spread intense romance. It is one of the highest selling music alba in the history of the Indian music industry.

After 23 years gap, the second film of this series came out and again the music did the magic. Media was worried that this movie may not be able to reach the heights and standards that are set by the first film. But its music was enough to do all the magic.

The plot involves a turbulent relationship between Aarohi ( Shraddha Kapoor) and Rahul ( Aditya Roy Kapoor). The relationship is more affected by the alcoholic nature of Rahul.

The profession of both the leads is a singer in this movie. In the end, Rahul commits suicide because he feels that he is becoming a burden in Aarohi’s life and obstacle in her career. The film collected Rs.1.09 Billion worldwide. Also, this movie bagged almost every award in music in 2013-2014.

6 years have passed and Aashiqui 3 is releasing on Valentine’s day. The very first thing we are looking forward to is its soundtracks. It was said that Hrithik Roshan and Shraddha Kapoor will be starred in this movie but those were rumors. One of the best onscreen couple of new generation, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra are playing main roles.

When Shraddha was asked about how she feels about Aashiqui 3; she said that she doesn’t feel that she should be part of it because their story ended in Aashiqui 2 itself. She thinks Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra would perform well and Aashiqui will again touch many hearts.

All the fans and critics are waiting for this movie like anything. Let’s see what Aashiqui 3 brings to us.

Krrish 4

Hrithik Roshan announces ‘Krrish 4’

Jadoo will always India’s answer to ET. The extraterrestrial character was introduced to Bollywood by Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan in the super-hit film, ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ (2003). The third instalment of the franchise, ‘Krrish 3’, was released in over five years ago, in 2013. For some time now, rumours have been rife about a fourth instalment of the movie being made, but nothing was confirmed officially.
And now, there’s some happy news for fans of the franchise. If Hrithik’s latest Instagram post is anything to go by, looks like the speculations were true.

The actor has posted a throwback video of the making of the ‘Krrish 3’, with the caption:

“Do you ever feel terrified when you think about the distance between where you want to be and where you are ? Krrish in many ways for me is the struggle, aspiration and endeavor of wanting to travel the length of that distance. When my dad thought of the idea of Krrish , the first thing I felt was doubt, uncertainty and incapable, I was simply afraid, and the second thing I felt was absolute terror at the thought of not doing it because I was afraid. So we went ahead and took the fear along with us for the ride.

What we lacked in budget, technology, specialization and resources , we made up in tenacity, teamwork, discipline and perseverance. Today, we are at the heels of yet another endeavor to shorten that distance with Krrish4; and I feel exactly the same fear as I felt all those years ago. And that is why I am reassured that we are on the right track.

Here, take a look at the video:

Priyanka Chopra had acted opposite Hrithik in ‘Krrish 3’. With PeeCee being busy with her wedding and foreign assignments, will she be a part of this one, too? Though Kangana Ranaut was also part of ‘Krrish 3’, given the way their ties have worsened since then, it’s a given that she won’t be a part of the upcoming film.

Hera Pheri 3

Hera Pheri 3: Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal to get back together?
Hera Pheri’s third installment is all set to go on floors this year. The original film’s star cast – Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty – will play lead roles in Hera Pheri 3.

When Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty came together for a film in the year 2000, it went on to become a cult classic. Hera Pheri, which was then directed by Priyadarshan, is still one of the most loved comedy films in Bollywood till date. Though the sequel of the film, Phir Hera Pheri, wasn’t able to match up to the original film, the makers of the film have decided to bring the trio together for the third installment of the film.

It is reported that producer Firoz Nadiadwala as joined hands with director Indra Kumar for the third Hera Pheri.

A source close to the film told a daily, At present, the film is in the scripting stage. Indra Kumar has been working with his team of writers on the story since May last year and has already locked the first half, while the second half requires some more work. He will jump into it after the release of his upcoming directorial, Total Dhamaal.

The source added, The delays happened due to issues in the script. Hera Pheri is an iconic franchise and the team is in no hurry to take it on floors. Though everyone is excited, no one wants to compromise on the script for a substandard product to capitalise on the franchise’s power.

Earlier, it was reported that Akshay had initially walked out of the franchise after a fallout with Firoz. However, now it is learnt that they have kept aside their differences for the film.
